The Aurora is Nexan’s flagship vessel, used to lay the massive cables on the ocean floor that transport the energy from offshore wind farms. The Aurora can carry up to 10 000 metric tons of such cable, as well as ninety crew cables, even in shallow seas. Her dynamic positioning can keep her exactly where she needs to be, with an impressive +/- 1-2 meter difference.

With the inaugural 2025 Nexans Innovation Summit coming up, Nexans worked with Roadwerx, an experiential marketing and event production agency, to ensure the industry leaders in global electrification and sustainable solutions had a net positive experience. Roadwerx contacted Playwell Bricks to commission a custom set that would represent the Nexans brand and keep the conference and relationships created there at the top of mind.

Playwell Bricks CEO and lead designer Jason Pyett recreated Nexans’ Aurora in bricks, working closely with Roadwerx to get all the details, down to the fonts, perfected.

Roadwerx also used the marketing opportunities in the build instructions to carry Nexans’ brand messaging further, making sure the recipients would learn more about the Aurora as they constructed their set. The instructions aligned with graphics to explain just what they were building, from those ninety crew cabins to the specially designed hull that enables the Aurora to work in shallow waters despite the considerable weight carried aboard.

With these custom Playwell Bricks sets, Nexans’ conference attendees had a fun, inspiring keepsake of the conference and the industry leaders who attended, as well as a fine tool to keep learning about Nexans’ flagship vessel long after the conference ended.
