For many of us, our university years represent the beginning of our independent adventures, where lasting memories are made and deep friendships forged. This next custom Playwell Bricks set was a commission made to honour just that. The client asked Playwell Bricks to recreate the house where he and four roommates spent their university years.

The challenge of a set like this is keeping true to the budget and scale set by the client, while also including the details that are meaningful to them. Many of the details were chosen because they trigger a specific memory, or are integral to capturing the essence of the house. Playwell’s client let the team know that his plan was to build this set with his old roommates, leveraging their shared memories to create new ones as they did so.

“As a former architect, I always enjoy designing models of buildings and homes,” Playwell Bricks designer Tim Howell says. “For this particular design, I worked with several images of the exterior and interior provided by the client.”

He goes on to explain, “The exterior of the home is fairly simple, but did have some detailing at the front entry that was fun to recreate in the model. At the interior, the client specifically requested that the furnishings and items in several rooms be included.”

With this set, Playwell’s client and his friend will have a long-lasting, tangible custom set of their university home, ready to make new memories and strengthen the friendships they forged when they lived there.
