Playwell Bricks Designed a Custom Coffin for Dracula! 🧛 ⚰️
Sometimes a commission comes along that the team can’t wait to sink their teeth into. After all, it’s not every day that Playwell Bricks gets a request from a celebrity like Count Dracula.
“I suppose there was some danger to taking this on,” Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett admits. “But when I spoke with him, Dracula expressed a genuine interest in the health benefits of bricks. Plus, he lives in Transylvania, so the distance should negate any physical danger. Except, maybe, for the shipper, but the Count assured me that he receives grocery deliveries all the time without any issues.”
🦇DESIGNING THE COFFIN 🦇
Playwell Bricks designer Jared Oswald designed Dracula’s new coffin. “What’s interesting about this set is that, on the inside, Count Dracula wanted to have exposed studs.” Jared points out the nubs on the bricks that enable the connections.
“One thing that we, as non-dead people, don’t think about is how boring it can be to spend the entire day inside a coffin. By having a coffin made of bricks with the studs exposed, Dracula can take a sack of bricks with him when the sun is coming up,” Jared tells me. “Then he and his bats can spend the day building whatever they like in there. It helps to pass the time until its safe to come out again.”
🦇 WORKING WITH DRACULA 🦇
“I especially appreciate that Jared considered my batlings,” Dracula wrote after seeing the initial design. “Truly, his level of service was delicious...ly excellent.”
Once the Count approved the final designs, the team shifted into production. “I was nervous there might be shipping delays when we ordered the parts,” Jason admits. “Overall, Dracula was pleasant to work with, but I didn’t want anything to go wrong. You know, just in case.”
🦇A TASTY OUTCOME 🦇
Happily, Dracula’s custom Playwell Bricks coffin arrived ahead of schedule. “Dracula’s already considering his next custom coffin with us,” Jason tells me with a toothy grin.
A little too toothy.
Were his canines growing… fangish? I try not to stare, dropping my gaze, only to notice two tiny, round scars on his neck. Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howled, and I could just make out his words, “Happy Halloweeeeeen!”
