GPS Air is a company that’s passionate about indoor air quality, producing commercial air purifiers that improve indoor air by removing and reducing harmful air particles, including viruses, bacteria, and particles that can cause odors. The team at GPS Air recognized that their clients were also people who enjoyed building and solving puzzles, so they reached out to Playwell Bricks to commission a custom brick set of one of their products.

During their discovery call, a representative from GPS Air explained the product they were imagining in bricks. The smartIAQ™ Gridset is a unit that can be laid into a ceiling grid, no ductwork or complex wiring required. “One side’s a fan and one side’s a filter,” they explained. The important details that they wanted to see were a spinnable fan (not shown), as well as the door and the filter on the other side, to make this as close to the real thing as possible in bricks.

The Playwell Bricks design team took notes on these important touches and got to work. Once the first concept was established, they used the client’s suggestions to tweak and adjust the custom design until it matched their vision. The final touches included a decal with the smartIAQ™ logo and a QR code that led to GPS Air’s website.

During the test build for this set, the team noticed that the clutch power (a term that refers to the friction that holds bricks together) in certain sections just wasn’t up to Playwell’s standards. After some discussion, the team swapped out some internal brick pieces until this set met the required standard set forth for all Playwell Bricks sets.

With this custom Playwell Bricks of their smartIAQ™ Gridset, GPS Air has a client gift that represents their brand and showcases the most important features of their product. The GPS Air marketing strategy was revealed in the marketing content the client included in the Build Instructions, where they wrote, “Now that you've snapped the last piece into place, here's the good news: installing the real smartIAQ GridSet is simple and just as satisfying.”
