When Experian wanted to draw more attention to their Aperture Data Studio at an important tradeshow, they commissioned a custom Playwell Bricks set. This buildable set had to tangibly represent this aspect of their business as well as create leads and appeal to potential clients.

When people want to retrieve their credit scores, they know to call Experian, but with the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit in London coming up, Experian wanted to draw attention to the data quality and governance of their Aperture Data Studio. Could Playwell Bricks design a set that could help them do this?

For Playwell, “the challenge is representing something that doesn’t have a real, tangible representation,” says Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett. “It’s usually a matter of digging down into what companies actually do, rather than the product they offer. It’s a bit of a deeper way of thinking about these kind of things.”

Jason showed Experian some completed Playwell projects to get a feel for what they’d like, and they were immediately attracted to some of the puzzle sets he’s designed. That’s when the Experian moment had a lightbulb moment: what about a more traditional, jigsaw-type puzzle? They were already imagining the title: “Experian: the missing piece of your data quality puzzle.”

Jason had never designed a brick-built jigsaw puzzle before, but he’s always up for a challenge.

The final puzzle behaves a bit differently than a traditional, jigsaw puzzle. The parts must be built in proper order and slide into each other, but as this aspect lends weight to the data quality metaphor, they were hardly a drawback.

Most importantly, Experian now had a unique and memorable promotional item on hand to build awareness of Experian’s Data Aperture Studio for their London tradeshow.
