The Challenge
Clayco came to Playwell Bricks looking for a gift to help welcome new employees to their team. This custom gift would need to represent Clayco and what they do. At the outset, the team at Clayco was thinking of a custom job site set, but soon settled on the idea of a construction crane: a recognizable symbol of large-scale construction the world over. This crane should come with a construction worker minifigure, complete with a safety vest and two heads: one masculine, one feminine.
The solution
Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang designed the custom crane set for Clayco. “I thought the approach of drawing out the dark lines of the grid to be interesting,” Eric recalls, referring to the yellow on gray section on the mast of the crane. “Although it’s a tad bit inaccurate to the real thing, it ensures a structural integrity which, in fairness, can matter more than how the product looks when dealing with this type of set. It looks great and recreates the visual effect you see on a construction site.”
The Result
With this custom crane set, Clayco now has a unique, branded gift to welcome new employees and represents what Clayco does. Now that the design is complete, Clayco also has the option to reorder these sets whenever necessary, streamlining their future gifting needs.
