Even when others mimic Playwell Bricks’ approach, he doesn’t get discouraged, he gets energized. “One would-be competitor has taken our messaging and tries to replicate everything we are doing. But can you blame them? When you see success, it only makes sense to try and copy it.”

Rather than being frustrated, Jason sees this kind of imitation as validation; and also motivation. “What they don’t realize is that we were already pivoting away from that. They just gave me a better reason to pursue the change.”

At Playwell Bricks, staying creative is part of the job. Listening to customers is key. “Many of our clients have checked out the competition and come back to us. From those conversations, we learn exactly what we need to create a better service for them and we put that into practice.”

In the end, Jason believes the only true competition is internal. “As cliché as it sounds, our only real competitor is ourselves from yesterday.”
